KIA Ora My name is Tyrell I am from Ohaeawai school

Last week we did a story board and we had to be in groups of 5 or 6  kids. Our group made up our own story. It is about Cluedo at School. We are going to be making an animation for the Movie Festival in Term 4. Watch this space!! 

About the Earth.

Structure of the Earth Facts

We are learning about the structure of the Earth.

I learnt that the Earth is made up of 4 layers. They are:

Facts about each layer:

Crust - The crust it the top of the mantle and under the mantle is the Outer core and the inner core. We are standing on the crust.

Mantle - The Mantle is boiling hot and the rocks are melted ,so it is soft and squishy.

Outer Core - The Outer core is 4-6000 degrees Celcius, even hotter than the sun.

Inner Core - The inner core is the hottest place and is below the outer core. It is solid because of the pressure from the outer layers surrounding it.

Our group -  

First we created a 3D image of the earth using clay.

We then cut the shape in half to show the different layers. After waiting for it to dry, we identified each layer by painting them in different colours.

Acrostic Poem

This week we have been writing poems. Here is my acrostic google drawing.

Kauri Poem

We were learning about Kauri die back we were sketching the tree  and then making a poem about what we feel.

Hot air balloon race

This week we have used a picture as motivation for our writing. We had a story starter and then we had to carry on the story. What I like about my writing is the sentences.

I need to improve on spelling.

I was super excited to go on a cool ride on a hot air balloon to win the reward.
I really want the 1,000,000 million dollars.

I went with my best friends, Max and Kane.
We were 3rd place and we just passed the red hot air balloon.

When I went with Max and Kane on the hot air balloon and we were still in second place.
We have to pass 4 more places and we look at the ground and we were so high. Kane, Max
and I were so scared and we saw our mums and dads saying “You can do it!”
and we were not scared anymore. We were brave and we had a little snack, it was pizza.
We had 2 boxes and we had two apples and we finished. We almost caught up and we just
got by him. We were almost to the finish line up in the air and we saw it by New Zealand.
We were almost there and we just lost the tournament and it was all right.

Animal town

This week we have used another picture as motivation for our writing.
We had a story starter and then we had to carry on the story.

What I like about my writing is that it is creative.

I need to improve on my spelling.

Here is my writing about Animal Town.

Roar!! What was that noise? I walk to animal town and I am excited to go there.
It looks so cool and awesome and I was super excited to go to animal town.
We bought some food. When we got to animal town, it had so many animals.
The lion roared and it was 50 m away and he roared again and  we were so close and
we just saw the sign.

We saw the lion and he wanted meat because it was hungry and starving. He roared three
times and i got so excited.
We saw an orangutan. It was fluffy and orange and it was beating its chest.

The Pou

As part of our writing programme we have been doing environmental writing. We had to sketch an object and as we were sketching we wrote down thoughts that we had. Then we wrote our thoughts down  as a poem. We cut out the sketch and added this to our writing.

ROBOT POEM

We wrote a robot poem. We had to make our own robot. We had to use the tablet and write code so dash could move.  Dash is the fastest robot of all the robots. He can spin and dance.

DASH

Dash can go fast and slow. He is small and made of round balls. He can't move until he is told what to do. He is white, blue and orange.  He is fast like lightning.

Skittles experiment

We have been learning to use better sentence starters and write juicy sentences. Here is my writing on our skittle experiment. We used a bag of skittles and poured water over them in the plate and we watched what happened.

Kite Poem

I did it with a buddy. We built it with paper. It went good, it did not crash.
